Kilian Jornet - history maker...
Another incredible feat of ultra-distance running is under this remarkable 22 year-old’s belt. A total 850km in 8 days with an ascent of over 42,000m, for an amazing trans-Pyrenées adventure. No doubt there will be a Kilian’s Quest film to properly book end his run in due course…
His run has gained traction as it progressed from west to east across this aggressive and at times remote mountain range, and the media interest has built with running greats such as Paula Radcliffe venturing out to see Kilian as he progressed.
However, the most powerful demonstration was that of social media in logging and informing the international followers of his run. Updates were almost immediate as Kilian encountered glorious views, snow climbs and some dramatic weather conditions on the 850km trek, and with the likes of gripmastertrails and trailrunningsoul taking shots and scribing blogs, via their Facebook pages, followers were left with that sense of almost ‘being there’.
