Skyrunner® World Series is go in Zegama
The 2010 Skyrunner® World Series calendar celebrates eight years of world-class athletes and events with 14 races in 12 countries across 4 continents. For the record: a total of 700 kilometres and 30,000 vertical climb!
The Maratòn Alpina Zegama-Aizkorri takes place in Spain’s Basque Country, a classic marathon race with 5,472m ascent and descent, this demanding course is much favoured by the world’s top runners and is also renowned for its pre and post-race atmosphere. Expect a loaded field, but Brit Ricky Lighfoot, victorious in 2009, will be absent through injury this year.

Mud, Sweat and Tears was dreamt up some time ago. I had returned to the sport of running (competitively) after around a 15 year layoff due to injury.
