Coniston - in video...

Posted in At the Races by Matt Ward on Sun 02 May '10

Some tales of legendary fell running, from the fell running legend that is Ian Holmes, are coming back from the Coniston fell race. First it was the words, then it was the photos, and now it’s the video. This excellent footage comes from Andy Wharfeego Holden, produced in double quick time.

If you track some of the photo sets out there you will see that there were some shuffling of places over the last few miles, in the women’s and the men’s races. However, if all is to believed it seems that Holmes produced one of his amazing descents as he came off Old Man.

There was also late drama in the womens race as long-time leader Olivia Walwyn took a tumble less that a mile from the finish and was passed by youngster Emma Clayton, Walwyn was able to regain her composure and run in for second, though it appears a visit to the Kendal A&E was in order to repair some cuts and bruises.

After Saturdays result the English championships are now wide open with some very different results from round 1 at Noonstone. Look out for Championships standings on the FRA site soon.
