Though not hot, the unseasonal warmth seems to have taken its toll on the field too, with many complaining of the heat, and runners such as Ricky Lightfoot and Nat White retiring with knee and blister problems. However, there were no such dramas for men’s winner Morgan Donnelly.

The Borrowdale man bided his time through the Pen-y-Ghent checkpoint as he ran through in second place behind the fast-starting Chris Birchall. By Ribblehead Morgan had a lead of almost two minutes and held his form to win by a comfortable 4 minutes by the finish at Horton-in-Ribbleside some 3 hours after the start.

Some great banter over at the FRA forum, with tales of tiredness, dehydration and most of all enjoyment. Some great images are also starting to appear courtesy of Northender, Rochdale Harriers and ‘Addy in Accy’s sportsunday.co.uk photo site.
