Going into a major championship race on the world stage always concentrates the mind of the UK’s endurance runners, this this weekend will be no different as the cream of British XC head for Poland, and the World XC…
The World Cross Country Championships are typically a tall order for the men and women, with more success generally coming in the younger age groups. However, this weekend will see a genuinely strong women’s team heading out, led by Hayley Yelling-Higham.
The ‘come back queen’ will be ably abetted by trials winner Freya Murray and Stephanie Twell, and should see the British girls mixing it in the first 20-30 runners…
The men’s team will undeniably be headed by Mo Farah, who is the only real world-class British athlete than can be expected to challenge the African and southern European charge, however expect a strong run from form-man Andy Vernon who has had a spanking winter.

It could be just me, but it appears that in the first time for many years there will be no coverage of the race on the BBC – a sign of the times?
