Tower 42

Last week’s Vertical Rush race pushed tower (or vertical) running another step closer to being a sport that engages with the consciousness of everyday and elite runners…

The Vertical World Circuit has made headlines on this site on a number of occasions, and MST feels that as a sport tower running has a very bright future.

In this BBC News piece (aired on Breakfast last Saturday) Mike Bushell offers a quirky take on the ‘taking part’ and charity aspect, upon which many of this new breed of tower race are founded. Additionally it also gives mainstream air-time to elite athletes such as Anna Frost (shame they didnt caption exactly who she was though!)

With new races now springing up in London, Leeds and Newcastle it will be interesting to watch the development and how elite fell and mountain runners use the sport as part of their annual outdoor preparation, or in the case of Thomas Dold a single focus!

Results from last weeks event are now online at TDL, with images here.
