Welsh XC champs
Great report here from John Griffiths on Saturday’s Welsh Cross Country Championships in Swansea. With Andrea Whitcombe now an adopted Welsh girl there was only ever going to be one winner in the women’s event. Alex Hains comfortably won the men’s crown, romping away from Nat Lane…
On a negative note, how can it be that a senior National cross country championship event attracts 60 men and 41 women? The Scottish champs achieved 1200 finishers across the board with the men’s race having 447 come home, also the English National regularly gets over 1000 finishers in the men’s race. Half-term or not this is a poor showing, and something that Welsh Athletics must address.
