Freya a class apart in Scotland
Freya Murray
GB international Freya Murray showed why she is entering world class when it comes to cross country running, as she won the Scottish National Cross Country Championships by a street at Callander Park on Saturday…
To win any XC race by 1 minute and 40 seconds is good going, when that is the National championships it’s even more impressive. Murray has now won the Scottish title 4 times in 5 years. Emma Raven and Rosie Smith battled it out for the podium places, with Raven prevailing by 2 seconds.
The men’s title race was far more of an uncertainty, until the very last strides of the 12km event. Central’s Alastair Hay and Shettleston’s Tsegezab Woldemichael were stride for stride until the long run-in, with Hay leaving his rival wanting as they both sprinted to the line. Hay retains his title, and now seems to be the man to beat north of the Border.
