Reid wins at Annacurra
In the absence of many established hill runners in this year’s Winter League, notably defending WL champion Eoin Keith of Boards AC, there has been room for daring outsiders to establish themselves among the echelons of IMRA race winners.
No difference this Sunday at Annacurra as young New Zealander Jason Reid followed in Paul O’Connell’s footsteps from Ticknock and recorded his first IMRA race win. Although the Annacurra route had been expanded the route was still short for the committed ultra-runner. Along his way to victory he battled reigning Irish Champion Peter O’Farrell who started his season at Annacurra.

In 3rd, 4th and 5th followed first Eoin Brady and then two of his colleagues from University City Dublin securing them a comprehensive team victory (and with 30 seconds between the team mates there would have been something to banter about at the pub afters).
Event organiser Mick Hanney (7th overall) led his team Boards AC home in a fine 2nd with local amalgamation club Sli Cualann two points further adrift.
Karen O'Hanlon
On the ladies side of events, Karen O’Hanlon, Maynooth, returned from her 2009 hiatus from the mountains to fend off Irish MTB Olympian, Jenny McAuley, Sli Cualann. Raheny Shamrock’s Karen Cronin took 3rd while team honours were bestowed upon Crusaders AC led home by eight placed Lornie O’Dwyer.
