Moon is in the sky in NYC
New Zealand mountain great Melissa Moon won the Empire State Building Run-Up in New york yesterday. The 40 year-old ran the 1,576 steps and 86 floors of the historic skyscraper in 13 mins13 secs, well outside the women’s record of 11:23 set by Andrea Mayr in 2006.
Predictably the men’s event was won by Thomas Dold of Germany. Dold, 25, was a comfortable winner and now joins greats such as Paul Crake in having won the legendary race 5 times.
Thomas Dold on his was to a fifth Run-Up win
Dold’s winning time was 10:16—slightly off his best of 10:07, which he ran to win last year’s race. “To do this race six times and get five victories—it’s unbelievable right now,” he said. “And to be named along with Paul Crake as a five-time winner is a big honor.” Crake, the Run-Up course record-holder at 9:33, was paralyzed in a cycling accident in 2006. – NYRRC
