Kigen blows away class field in San Sebastian
After winning in Antrim just over a week ago Kenya’s Mike Kigen underlined why he is being hailed as one of the contenders for this years World XC champs, with a demolition job on some top class African and European opposition at the Cross Internacional de San Sebastián on Sunday (31).
This short highlights film shows Kigen lapping a fair chunk of the field too, as he won by 51 seconds from Eritrea’s Samuel Tsegay, with compatriot Amanuel Mesel in third.
The 6km women’s event was whole different race with Hungary’s Aniko Kalovics winning by a slender 6 seconds from Ukraine’s 2006 European XC champion Tatyana Holovchenko. Top Spanish talent Marta Dominguez struggled once again as she faded to 10th, over a minute and half behind Kalovics.
