New kids on the drinks block Orbana have come up with a product that looks to put an end to the ‘boom-and-bust’ of sports drinks – i.e feeling charged to feeling crappy due to the generous caffiene and sugar content that some beverages out there contain…

The call it the spike and crash effect, but in essence it makes sense that we should try to put stuff inside that enhances and stabilises the natural bodily systems as opposed to working against them. We were sent a little sample box this week, and will be saving them for some of the longer runs when the heavy snow clears.

Interestingly the drink comes in a powder, just add water format, the reasons for this?

It’s healthier. Many vitamins and amino acids lose their potency when diluted over time. So, we keep them in their original form and you dilute them before you drink. No potency lost. Simple as that.

It’s lighter to carry. Throw a bottle in your bag for the gym or office and you won’t even notice it’s there.

It’s tastier. You add the water, so you can dilute it as much or as little as you like.

It leaves a smaller carbon footprint. Orbana™ powder has 84% less weight than a liquid beverage, which substantially reduces the use of fossil fuels for mass transport.

At least that is what the Orbana bods say.

As to the cost effectiveness of this, the jury is out, as at £2 a bottle (I think that is 250ml?) it is more expensive than the likes of SiS Go. Of course, it purports to be different, so the proof will be in the tasting.

Review and field tests soon come!
