Andrea Mayr

Andrea Mayr might be able to negotiate some of the world’s highest mountains with ease, however a collision with a car whilst riding her bike recently has caused the Austrian much more distress. Mayr was all set for an assault on the Obudu Ranch Mountain race last weekend when the accident occurred near her home, leaving her with a broken shoulder and head injuries…

The 2009 WMRA Grand Prix runner up had been in good form and looking forward to the big Nigerian race, in a statement to the Obudu race organisers Mayr said:

“I am so sorry, but I have to inform you that I had a bad car accident yesterday, where I broke my shoulder and now suffer from a contusio cerebri. I was very lucky, because the car rolled over me and my bike, so the injuries I have are not very bad compared to what could have happened.”

No further news regarding Mayr’s current condition is available at the time of writing.
