The rise of Alistair Brownlee
From a young age those who knew Alistair Brownlee knew he was destined for greatness. As a youngster Ali was a top-class fell and cross country runner. However, it is in the sport of triathlon that the Yorkshireman has found fame…
Ex-fell champ, and coach to Brownlee, Jack Maitland says of the younsgter:
This year has been pretty special, let’s face it. One of the subjects of MST’s 5 minutes with… (!), 5 ITU World Cup wins, topped off with the World title in Australia, and this month (November 2009 issue) he is the cover-boy of internationally renowned tri mag 220 Magazine. It doesn’t get much better. Oh, he has also pocketed the meager sum of $157,000 this year – and that is just prize money!
Above all Alistair seems to have kept his feet firmly on the ground. He has just started on a Masters in Finance course at Leeds Met University, and only last weekend turned out (a race which he might want to forget) for his club of many years Bingley Harriers, at the UKA British fell relays. This kids feet are are staying put on the fells and hills.

About MST
Mud, Sweat and Tears was dreamt up some time ago. I had returned to the sport of running (competitively) after around a 15 year layoff due to injury.
