Mary Cullen

Irish internationals Mary Cullen and Mark Christie proved too strong for some quality opposition at the first big XC event of the 2009/10 season, the Aviva Health Gerry Farnan Cross Country held in Dublin’s Phoenix Park on Sunday (18).

The Hibernian Aviva Health Gerry Farnan Cross Country Festival included a series of mixed races for boys and girls aged 8 to 12 and 13 to 16 years old, as well as the Dublin Under 18 Championships for boys and girls. The feature event was the annual Gerry Farnan men’s cross-country race over five miles and the women’s race over three miles.

Athletics Ireland selectors will use the Senior Men and Women races as a form gauge for the European Cross Country Championships, which will take place in Santry Park on December 13.
