After the howling gales of the Saturday, which made marking out the course quite interesting at times, Sunday dawned calm, dry, and while not exactly tropical, pleasant enough to entice 124 starters to the twentieth edition of this popular event, which is also the concluding race in the Aberdeenshire Hill Race Series.
The first running of the Newtyle Hill Race saw a good turnout of 22 runners gathering at the Scottish Wildlife Trust Centre at Loch of the Lowes near Dunkeld
