Still lots going on north of the border. Racers at the Newtyle Hill Race and Bennachie thankfully dodged the gales of Saturday as Sunday dawned. The long trip north from London was made all the more worthwhile for Chris Smith, as he broke the course record at Bennachie…

Londoner breaks the record at Bennachie

After the howling gales of the Saturday, which made marking out the course quite interesting at times, Sunday dawned calm, dry, and while not exactly tropical, pleasant enough to entice 124 starters to the twentieth edition of this popular event, which is also the concluding race in the Aberdeenshire Hill Race Series.

Sullivan wins the inaugural Newtyle Hill Race

The first running of the Newtyle Hill Race saw a good turnout of 22 runners gathering at the Scottish Wildlife Trust Centre at Loch of the Lowes near Dunkeld

    Photo is from the climb up Beinn Each from the superb Stuc a Chroin race in 2007. Roll on the 1st of May.
