Commonwealth elite descend on Keswick
Amongst the festival of races are the Thursday’s 24 hour race and 100km run on Friday. We will have a preview on the weekend’s mountain races tomorrow, however for today head on over to the IAAF site for nice inside story on the ultra stuff.
The ultra events include a 24 hour run on 17 September and 100km run on 19 September. Martin Fryer (AUS) and Sharon Gayter (ENG) with distances of 247.187 km and 219.178 in the 24 hour lead the men’s and women’s field respectively. Dominic Croft (ENG) and Emma Gooderham (ENG) with times of 7:21:45 and 8:03:11 in the 100km run lead the men’s and women’s field respectively.
Over 200 selected athletes from 14 Federations will run the two ultra races (24 hour and 100km) and two mountain races (Up-Hill and Up- & Down-Mountain).
