A wet 100

In a race that was described as “brutal! My feet are in shreds, perhaps being wet for 27 hrs may have something to do with it? Hardest race in the UK: YES!” by third-placed Jez Bragg on his Twitter page, the Lakeland 100 took place last weekend.

The racing has categories spanning teams and pairs over the 100 and 50 mile courses. Fresh from a very strong run at the IAU World Trail Challenge Andy Rankin easily won the 100 mile solo trek through the Lakes. Rachael Lawrence was the only female finisher, in a race made all the more challenging by the soaking wet conditions.

Mark Palmer won the 50 solo for men with Lucy Colquhoun taking the ladies section. Some good discussion on the L100 forum and full results can be found online now.
