Jebby romps to Wasdale win

Stunning conditions at Wasdale - unless you're running perhaps!

In very hot conditions, fell-master Rob Jebb handled the giant that is Wasdale with relative aplomb. The 21 mile race was an English champs counter, and with current leader Rob Hope racing in France the last two races will be very interesting.

The result has also sprung Jebb into championship contention, along with his third place at Tebay recently. The final race (in October!) at Langdale looks likely to be the crunch match, where Rob Hope will possibly need to win to secure the title, though looking at the results a win at Dentdale for Jebb could also put him in contention, similarly for John Heneghan and Simon Bailey – then there is Ian Holmes! Its all ifs and buts, so I had better leave it there, damn exciting though!

Jebby strides out, to a 10 minute win...

The women’s championship seems far more clear-cut however. With a win at Wasdale it looks like Pippa Jackson has an unassailable lead.

Results are very provisional as they are kindly supplied by BillJ and theNoor, via the FRA forum

1. Rob Jebb 3.46
2. Simon Bailey 3.56

A very hot day and a very tough race! Seemed a lot longer than last year? May be the reason why it took me so much longer.

Well done all for some great racing in some tough conditions. friends came to watch and think its all sheer lunacy to be doing that. I could only agree with them
