All out War for Leinster League places on Scarr
Mags Greenan - super-woman
Last night’s Scarr mountain race left few unscathed as the battle for Ireland’s Leinster League continues. It was the ninth Wednesday league race this season, and with only four races left to gain vital points, it was another raging battle out on the hills.
In the women’s race, Mags Greenan led from start to finish despite tired legs from Saturday’s win at the European Team trail. If Greenan or her European team mate, Donna Mahon, turns out for the next four races, then the League could be an all-out battle between the two. If they miss one race however, then the women’s league will be a closely run contest until the end. With seven races to count, Karen Duggan from Clonliffe currently tops the poll but, close behind her lies Caroline Reid who, with just 11 points from six runs, just needs one more race to potentially run away with the League title.
In the men’s contest, “Eoin Keith’s”: six wins and a second must be enough secure him the title after an already impressive season. However, anything can happen in this mountain running game, with Brockagh, Sorrell Hill, Ballinstoe and Sugarloaf still remaining. Watch this space…
