Pichrtova runs away in Switzerland

Sunday’s Skyrunner® World Series Trial saw two mountain running icons, Anna Pichrtova and Robert Krupicka take the podium in the International SkyRace® on the Italian-Swiss border. Bad weather conditions forced the organisers to reduce the usual 31km course to a mere 20km to safeguard the 506 participants.

Past and present skyrunning champions lined up in Lanzada: Britain’s Angela Mudge, France’s Corinne Favre, Mexico’s Ricardo Mejia and Spain’s Agustí Roc and Kilian Jornet, the standing world champion.
The short course was favoured by the mountain running specialists, confirmed on the podium, although skyrunners Mejia, a close second, and Roc and Jornet fourth and fifth respectively, were just a minute behind the winner. Leaders Mejia and JiminezIn the women’s field, a brilliant Pichrtova first, fellow Czech Michaela Mertova second, while the versatile Angela Mudge, took third..
Mejia still leads the World Series ranking while Andorra’s Stephanie Jiminez now steps up to head the women’s ranking.
The next Skyrunner World Series race will take place in Andorra with the popular Vallnord SkyMarathon® on June 28 where another great line-up of champions will compete.
