Holmes and Mudge win at a windy Jura

Angela Mudge, knows Jura well...

It was a day for experience and class at this weekend’s Isle of Jura fell race. The reports coming back from the west coast of Scotland tell tales of wind, mist and runners losing their way.

Still it seems there is no substitute for class and fell legends Ian Holmes and Angela Mudge negotiated their way in the low cloud, wet, windy and slippery conditions to win the men’s and women’s races respectively. Mudge ran herself into an overall 10th place, with Holmes leading and coming from behind on a few occasions it seems, following some ‘detours’ in the hazardous conditions.

Full results can be found over at the Jura Fell Race site.

Also of interest is this excellent recall from Eryri Harrier Iain Ridgway over at the Eryri blogspot. Iain is an experienced racer and navigation leader, and still managed to get a little lost at times!
