British Champs hopefuls head to Scotland for Round Two
Hope and Whitehead
As many folk roll out their barbeques this Bank Holiday weekend, the fell racers of the UK will have plenty to keep them away from the charcoal. On Saturday the super-quick and serious racers head to the Trossachs to take on the might of Stuc a’ Chroin.
Winner of round one Pudsey and Bramley’s Rob Hope will be aiming to extend his lead in the Championship as he looks to retain his title. Tom Owens and Andy Symonds will also be hoping to secure a ‘home’ win, after some great recent wins north of the Border.
Depending on how much the Three Peaks win has taken out of him Rob Jebb will no doubt be very hard to beat if he decides to run. And the Bunny Governor, fell-legend and current course record holder, Ian Holmes, will obviously be one to watch, should he make the trip north.
John Heneghan - in-form and fresh
Add the in-form John Heneghan, Morgan Donnelly, Danny Hope, Lloyd Taggart and Ben Bardsley and it could be quite a race – given some decent weather we also think that Holmes’ course record could be under threat.
With Angela Mudge in Nepal and Natalie White still coming back from injury the women’s race could be a resumption of the battle in round one between Pippa Jackson and Elke Schmidt. However, someone who might have a say in that could be Clare Whitehead. She comes off some very good recent wins, this coupled with local knowledge means that the Cosmics athlete will be out to win her ‘local’ round.
