Ejigu is back on top

After hitting the world scene hard as a junior Sentayehu Ejigu has spent some hard years in the running wilderness. However, after a superb win at the Boston Games last month she has now set her sights firmly on a medal the World Cross Country Championships.

Writing for the IAAF Sabrina Yohanne writes a fantastic in-depth article on the Ethiopian. She details how injuries and bereavements kept her from athletics, and it was only after the death of her sister in 2007 and 10 months of grieving that she could final resume her career – since then, its been all good news…

Ejigu targets Amman World XC, leaving difficult years behind

When Sentayehu Ejigu of Ethiopia ran 14:47.62 to win the Boston Indoor Games 5000m on 7 February, only three women in history had ever run faster over the distance. Although some fast times have since bumped Ejigu down, she remains in the all-time top ten at number six.
