Kiprop - will be there or thereabouts on Saturday
Last weekend saw some truly international XC racing in Japan, Luxembourg, Uganda and Kenya. The Kenyan’s seem to be taking this winter very seriously and with their trials for the World XC champs this Saturday the competition for places will be hot.
Kiprop and Belete are the Eurocross winners in Diekirch
Diekirch, Luxemburg – Wilson Kiprop emerged as a winner at the Diekirch Eurocross on Sunday (15) after beating down fellow Kenyan Titus Masai in a breathtaking duel. The women’s race turned out to be a family affair with Mimi Belete finishing 7 seconds ahead of her younger sister Almensh. Pre-race favourite Annemari Sandell-Hyvärinen from Finland withdrew from the race due to illness.
Kipsiro defends Ugandan Cross Country title
Kapchorwa, Uganda – 2008 Beijing Olympics 4th placer Moses Kipsiro and Adero Nyakisi headlined the one day Ugandan Cross Country championship held Saturday (14) at the Kapchorwa Secondary School in far east Uganda.

Karoki and Shimizu the winners at Chiba Cross Country
Chiba Cross Country, one of the qualifying races for the upcoming World Cross Country Championships, was held in Showa Woods in Chiba. Muchiri Karoki of Kenya and Yuko Shimizu of Japan won their respective senior races however most invited runners did not fare well, however, those who ran well last year did so again this year. In the men’s 12Km, the first invited runner, Hiroyoshi Umegae, was sixth, while in the women’s 6Km the first invited runner, Aya Isomine, was only eighth.
Nairobi, Kenya – Peter Kosgei from Keiyo and Hiron Ng’etich of Nandi Central have joined Kenya’s never-drying production line of distance runners from the vast Rift Valley Province.
