Jono shoots for $50,000!
The Obudu Ranch International Mountain Running Race in Cross River state, Nigeria, takes place this Saturday the 29th of November. Hold onto your hats as it claims to be the world’s richest Mountain Running race, and will have the world’s best clambering for those dollars!
In a race that race covers 11.25km, to a height of 1600m (over 5000ft) above sea level, the total prize purse will be a staggering $227,000 – so you can bet that the competition (just like the weather) will be hot. It will be very interesting to see how the reigning world champion Jonathan Wyatt fairs against Africa’s best on their home turf, in addition to the proven challenges from some of Europe’s best. This will be a true test against some of the world’s greatest runners, and with such an international flavour is further indication of the stepping-up of mountain running on the world stage.
